Information on registering foreign residents
Foreign nationals who intend to stay in the Republic of Korea for more than 90 days from the date of entry are required to file for registration to the Seoul Immigration Office.
Aliens born in the Republic of Korea should obtain the status of stay within 90 days from the date of his/her birth, and aliens staying without being granted the status of stay on any other ground should obtain the status of stay within 30 days. -Article 23 of Immigration Act [Granting Status of Stay]

Common required documents
- Foreign registration form
- Passport (with a copy of the pages containing personal information and visa)
- 3 color photos (taken within the past 6 months, 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm)
- Registration fee of KRW 30,000(Cash Only) (The residence card will be issued within 1 week at the place of registration.)
- Documents to prove place of residence (lease contract, certificate of accommodation, advance notice on expiration of stay, utility Bill Payment Receipt, etc.)
※ Please note the official in charge may request additional documents after screening the basic requirements.
You must visit Seoul Immigration Office with the necessary supporting documents; if your registration card has been damaged or lost, if there is not enough space to add more information, or if there has been a change of information in your registration details such as your name, sex, birth date, or nationality.
You must request the re-issuance of the card or report the change to the registration details within 14 days.
* It is mandatory to make an online reservation to visit as of April 2021. (Access the website of HiKorea, ‘www.hikorea.go.kr’, and then click ‘Reserve Visit’.) Yet, for a change of place of residence and change of passport, a reservation is not necessary to visit and process at an Immigration office.
